The Tempest

This was my second time designing for the Minack Theatre in Cornwall.

We set the play in today’s world. Prospero was a yoga guru whose new-age leanings had eventually got him thrown out of Milanese society.

Miranda, who had never seen another human being before had created an installation of the colourful bits of plastic washed up on the shore. Caliban created his gods out of the junk he had found and Prospero had his spiritual healing books, wind chimes and buddhas.

Prospero, Miranda, Ariel and the spirits wore yoga outfits and the spirits had dresses I hand stitched and dyed for the banquet and marriage scenes.
